My wife is not afraid of the gospel

Again this time I wanted to talk about something a little different.

My wife is someone who does what is right because it is the right thing to do. She is never afraid to tell someone how it is when it comes to the gospel and that if such a blessing to me now as well to our family in the future. I know that she will always be right by my side and will always help guide our family on the path to our heavenly Father.

This came into my mind today as we were visiting my old president and his wife. My wife and I have talked together s lot about our missions and it is very clear to me that she was a very bold and hardworking missionary. What an example she has set for me and the people she served with on her mission. I know that she will be the same with me and our future children, always serving and loving those around her.

My Wife is Spiritually Independent

The last few weeks I have talked about obvious aspects of my wife but this week I wanted to talk about something a little more important but at the same time, subtle.

My wife is spiritually independent. Now many of you may be wondering what I mean when I say that. Being spiritually independent means that she doesn't need other people to motivate her to do the spiritual things. My wife doesn't rely on having friends in church in order for her to go. In fact my wife and I don't to church for the social aspect at all. We only go because we know that is where we know we need to be. When we attend church we know that we are attending to renew our covenants with our Heavenly Father and that is the sole reason that motivates us to go.

When we are going to bed she never complains about praying or reading scriptures. This is such an example to me because there are days that I just don't want to read scriptures and go to sleep but she is always kind about reminding me that we need to read at least a few verses.

I know that I am supposed to be the spiritual leader of our family but it is a comfort to know that if I am slacking, she will be right there to help me back up and to do what I am supposed to do.

My wife is always watching out for me

I have to tell a little story about my wife. She loves cold cereal! If we had enough of it she could eat it with every meal of every day. I like cold cereal as well but not quite as much as her. Even though she loves cold cereal as much as she does, she always saves the last couple of bowls for me. She especially does it with cereals that I really enjoy.

I know this is something small but it leads to bigger things as well. She is always making sure that I am happy and that just makes me fall for her even more.

I know the child cereal is just a small example but it just got me thinking about how some people think more about themselves than about their spouse. I know my wife and I try our hardest not to be like that but to always be thinking of each other and what the other person needs. I love my wife and appreciate everything that she does for me and our family.

My wife is good at NOT giving up on the Important Things

Today I was browsing through pins that my wife pinned on her pinterest account and this one really stood out to me. It really got me thinking about how my wife never gives up on me or on our marriage. There are things that frustrate her or annoy her but she is always so good at showing that she cares about me.

When we were dating, I was a bad boyfriend. I was really bad about calling or skyping, especially when I was doing homework. She would always be so understanding and patient with me and still is. She was always patient with me when I needed answers from our Heavenly Father about our relationship. She would get an answer sometimes weeks before I would but she would still stick around and be patient until I got an answer for myself. The patience she has always had for has been such a good example to me and I try to emulate every day. There are times that I'm not as good as other days but I am getting better.

I love my wife and I am so glad that she loves me. I know that we will continue to learn and grow together while we experience life together. It is just a great comfort to know that we will never give up on each other.

Maybe this is why we have made it so long:) Large Wood Sign A Perfect Marriage Subway Sign by dustinshelves:

My wife is My BEST Friend

My wife is my best friend! Now I know that sounds totally cliche but it really is the truth.

The semester before we got married was an interesting and fun time. I was attending school in Rexburg while she was attending in Provo. This alone made dating each other more difficult but not impossible. We would work really hard throughout the week so we could have the weekend free to spend together. Instead of constantly going and doing crazy things, we would just play pool, or make food, or take a walk together. We really got to know each other and the little quirks in our personalities. I know that because we kept our activities simple, we could focus more on getting to know each other rather than who was winning or who fell down more. The prophets and apostles have always said to keep the dating and courtship simple and clean. My wife and I were able to have fun and really get to know each other little by little. I just kept falling for her more and more every week.

I know that we have the relationship that we have now because we became friends before we began dating seriously. We became best friends just by talking and enjoying each others company. We still do many of the same things we did while we were dating but it is better now because we get to be together all of the time.

My wife is so Patient

This week I wanted to talk about how patient my wife is with me.

This week was crazy! With school and work in full swing we had more than enough to keep us both occupied even through the end of the week. The only thing that was really bothering her was that we weren't able to spend much time together. This just got me thinking about how the scriptures say a couple should be united and work together. She is always so good about showing me she cares more about me than work or school. She is such a good a example to me and I have so much to learn from her.

I love my wife and I'm so glad I get to learn from her and her example.

My Wife is Super Supportive

This time I wanted to talk about how supportive of me my wife has been the last few months.

My wife and I are currently attending college with very different majors. She is studying Horticulture with an emphasis in design and build while I am majoring in Electrical Engineering. We are both working part time and are full time students. Each of us has classes that challenge us and are making us stretch. Neither of us really understand the others major but we always like to talk about what we have learned in our classes while we are walking to the next class or up the treacherous hill to our car. Now something you have to know about me is that I am a bit of a perfectionist. I don't like getting bad grades or being bad at things in general. My wife always encourages me and helps me to fulfill my dreams. I try to do the same for her but she just does a great job at it all of the time. It reminds me of the movie UP where it shows Carl and Ellie's life together. He was always so supportive of her and her dreams. Alex is exactly that way for me. I know that since we are always encouraging each other, we will achieve great things for our family.

Even when we are having hard times, after we have a moment to talk about it. She always looks to the future and helps me see that the future holds so much more for us. This reminds me of a story from Elder Holland about the troubles he had with his car at the start of his cross country road trip.

Our lives are so much better when we are encouraging and loving towards each other instead of complaining and tearing each other down.
